Queensland Mental Health Week At Supported Care!

What a week! We look forward to celebrating Queensland Mental Health Week each year to encourage conversation and action to break the stigma surrounding Mental Health. We’ve had a lot of exciting plans that we got to put into action across the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane. This year’s theme for Queensland Mental Health Week was all about the ABC’s of Mental Health – Awareness, Belonging and Connection. We wanted to emphasize this theme through all our events, connecting the Residents at Clayfield House and Caloundra House, and fostering a sense of belonging.

The Sunshine Coast team had an exciting day on Tuesday (QMHW Day 4) with our Operations Manager Justin, and our new Regional Service Manager Elle attending the Mental Health Street Fair at Maroochydore. There were so many fun and engaging activities run by other providers and local businesses, and we thoroughly enjoyed getting out in the community.

On that same day Caloundra House had an BBQ lunch for Residents and staff, arranged by Jacob, Summaya, Dylan, Michelle, and Jodie. Michelle did an amazing job on the BBQ in the heat, and Jodie was working hard in the kitchen to organize some salads and lunch service. Summaya was also able to take her camera out for a few photos – check them out!

Friday was another busy day for us with some of our team attending the Brisbane Mental Health Expo at the Brisbane Powerhouse, and the rest of our Supported Care team running our QMHW event at Clayfield House.

Our team at the Powerhouse had cookies, plants, pens, brochures, and our (iconic) stress balls on offer for those that came up for a chat. We saw an amazing turn out at the expo, and we’re looking forward to next year already!

Our event at Clayfield House was so much fun for both the Residents and staff. We were able to bring in our Community Customers (link to website – services – community) and some Residents from Greenslopes House. We began our event with painting our mural assisted by Mitch (our amazing Support Worker and Artist in Residence), getting Residents involved in an ongoing art project for Queensland Mental Health Week whilst the team worked hard in the kitchen to get everything ready for our BBQ lunch. Keep an eye out for more photos to come!

We couldn’t have asked for a better week and we would like to thank everyone for coming together to put on some amazing events for our Customers, Residents and Staff!
